Here’s the “Rapping My Life” song/video for week #10! I was hanging out around town this week and managed to see this woman I was going out with a few months ago. I broke it off with her, yet found myself having unresolved feelings about the situation… so I decided to make a song about them! The song, “Someone Like You” uses a sample of the Adele song with the same name (and uses her voice on the chorus as well!) It’s one of the more personal songs in the cycle - you can download it for FREE by itself (click HERE) or by downloading the “Rapping My Life Volume 1” album featuring all 10 songs from this cycle (click HERE).

Well, as of this weekend I will have completed 10 songs from the “Rapping My Life” project, so I figured it was time to drop the first album from it! The album, “Rapping My Life Volume 1: Weeks 1-10” will be available this Saturday, March 17. It will feature all 10 songs from the project, as well as a bonus song, “Black President (Rack City Parody).” Oh, and it’s a FREE download too :)
Here’s the song for “Rapping My Life” week 9, “Bangin’ on a Trashcan!” Produced by Curtiss King, the song is based on something disgusting I saw this week: a homeless guy digging into a trashcan and drinking liquid out a cup. Ironically, I found this beat (made by Curtiss King) a few weeks before this incident happened, and decided to use it for a song since (a) it samples a song from one of my favorite cartoons ever - Doug - and (b) it was a nice idea to use in reference to talking about homeless people. NOTE: this is the first video in this cycle to use green screen - I just bought a new one, along with a lighting kit. Still trying to figure out all the right light angles to use and stuff, so forgive the edges on my person :) FREE song download, just click the link HERE.
Note: The beat for this was also used by Curtiss King for his album, “Snick @ Nite.” The album is tight, and I recommend you get it - here’s the link: http://www.curtissking.com/albums
Here the “Rapping My Life” song for week number 8! A close friend of mine came to visit, and he had a beat, chorus, and verse recorded for an unused song. It just so happened to be about a topic that relates to something I do everyday: text messaging! Note: I actually recorded my part for the song last week (as well as the video), but due to the fact that my life outside “Rapping My Life” was extremely hectic last week, I wasn’t able to finish the video up until today. I’m sure they’ll be some kind of catch-up vid at some point… for now, though, this is one of the best videos I’ve put together in a while. Check it out, and download it for free HERE.
As you all know, Rihanna recently dropped her song “Birthday Cake” that features a cameo by her ex-boyfriend/abuser Chris Brown. I felt some kind of way about it, and decided to put together a video imagining what that recording session could’ve been like. So far the video’s gotten hundreds of THOUSANDS of views… and it hasn’t even been up 48 hours yet! For an extensive commentary on WHY this video was created in the first place, click HERE.
Here’s the song for “Rapping My Life” week number 7! As you all know, singing sensation Whitney Houston passed away last Saturday in her Beverly Hills hotel room. For many years now, Ms. Houston struggled with addiction, and it’s just sad that all the talent she had was going to waste. Since I’ve been talking about her with friends and co-workers all week - as well as downloading some of my favorite songs of hers - I felt it appropriate to make a song about it. Thus, “Crack Is Wack” was born! It uses a sample from the infamous Whitney-Diane Sawyer interview where she was asked about the subject of her drug use. FREE download, just click HERE!
Here’s the song for “Rapping My Life” week number 6! Spent time with my Godson this week and got to thinking about how much things change when you get older… as well as how some things remain the same. FREE song download, just click HERE!
Here’s “Rapping My Life” week number 5’s song, “Words With Friends!” When I’m not working I play this game a LOT, and thought it would be cool to make a song about it. I also made the beat, which I constructed together using sounds from the actual game. Check out the video, and download the song for FREE by clicking HERE.
When I’m not doing “Rapping My Life” songs, I do parody songs. Back in 2008 I put out a parody of Lil’ Wayne’s “A Milli” called “Obama Milli Remix” that became popular on YouTube… and worldwide. (Type it into the YouTube search engine if u don’t believe me). Another election year means more parody songs about our prez - and this is the first one! It’s a parody of Tyga’s “Rack City” called “Black President” and it’s available for download at iTunes and on Soundcloud.com. Enjoy - oh, and share with friends, too!
